Mt. Sunapee View
18.25" X 22.25" X 2"
The backbone of this piece is cotton fabric hand-dyed to simulate a vibrant mountain sky. During the summer months, Sunapee Mountain, NH, offers visitors an opportunity to ride the chair lift up and down the mountain. From the top, distant mountains ranges can be seen - all the way to Vermont.
Once the fabric is mounted to a wooden panel, multiple layers of encaustic medium are added. My original photographic image is printed onto a Japanese mulberry paper and embedded into the encaustic surface. Additional medium is applied which ensures the finished piece retains a luminescent quality.
