Lily Pads III
7.5" x 7.5" x 2.5"
The backbone of this piece is cotton fabric hand-dyed to simulate a water scene. Lily pads are ubiquitous on many of our shallower ponds and lakes.
Once the fabric is mounted to a wooden panel, multiple layers of encaustic medium are added. My original photographic image is printed onto a Japanese mulberry paper and embedded into the encaustic surface. Additional medium is applied which ensures the finished piece retains a luminescent quality.
