The backbone of this piece is cotton fabric hand-dyed to simulate a beautiful sky and water surface along the Lamprey River, Newmarket, NH. This is a popular spot for residents to launch their small craft for a paddle up river from the dam.
Once the fabric is mounted to a wooden panel, multiple layers of encaustic medium are added. My original photographic image is printed onto a Japanese mulberry paper and embedded into the encaustic surface. Additional medium is applied which ensures the finished piece retains a luminescent quality.
