The backbone of this piece is cotton fabric hand-dyed by first screen-printing my photographic image of Crystal Lake, NH, pond lilies. I chose a marine blue dye which created a beautiful dark tone against the paler blue background.
Once the fabric is mounted to a wooden panel, multiple layers of encaustic medium are added to ensure a luminescent quality of the finished artwork.
