The backbone of this piece is cotton fabric hand-dyed to mimic a distant seascape at sunset after a hot steamy summer day - a time when the setting sun reflects beautifully off the water's surface. Once the fabric is mounted to a wooden panel, multiple layers of encaustic medium are added. The medium ensures the finished piece retains a luminescent quality.
